CQS Allstars 137 vs River City’s Poe’s Punisher 97
CQS Miss B-havers 73 vs River City Uncivil Warriors 82
CQS has played the Punishers before and is always up for a road trip to see their favorite Virginia roller derby girls! With a whole Saturday to devote to driving to Richmond, CQS was in a for a shock when they hit the Convention Center. The track was assembled in a great space but right slap on top of good ole’ slick polished concrete! With a few quick wheel changes, the CQS Allstars took their fastest jammers to the line braving the slick turns. The hits were hard and sent players flying several feet more than they were accustomed. Star Berst shined at the front of the CQS pack holding Paris Kills and 40 Ounce Bounce of RCR back on more than one occasion. The best part about the game was the smiles and laughs exchanged between rival players. The Allstars and WFTDA Punishers truly put on a fun and evenly matched bout!
With Eva LasVegas making her debut, the CQS Miss B-havers followed the Allstars with an impressive bout of blocking and defense. Jammer Sassy Assassin won the MVP of the night for playing the last jam with a grade 3 seperation of the AC joint in her shoulder. Four weeks of recovery and she’ll be back in action in April in a B team match up of the Tallahassee Rollergirls. With many timeouts from both officials, coaches, and injured players, the game came down to the last 3 matches. The third to the last jam was tied at the whistle. The second to the last jam started impressive but CQS failed to gain lead jammer status and score points. With RCR up 7 points on the last jam, the Uncivil Warrior’s jammer broke the pack first and brought the game to an end.
Thanks River City for your amazing players, coaches, refs, volunteers, and fans! We look forward to the next matchup!
