Women’s Shelter

We used our final home bout of 2008 as a chance to donate a $2500 check to Columbia, SC’s Women’s Shelter, an agency which provides basic emergency shelter for homeless women in the region.

Columbia Double Dutch Forces

Our first home bout of 2009 featured a performance by the Columbia Double Dutch Forces, a 24 year old organization which teaches teamwork and responsibility to inner-city children through the art of jump-roping.  We were able to donate $250 to their cause.

Honor Flight South Carolina

In March 2009, we showcased the Honor Flight, a group which raises money to send WWII veterans to Washington, SC to visit the war memorial.

Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS)

In June 2009, we donated $400 to PAALS, a group that raises, trains, and provides service dogs where needed and uses animals to create activities for kids with social challenges within the state.

American Heart Association

In July 2009, one of our former skaters lost her 39-year-old husband to a heart attack.  The league voted to donate a dollar from each ticket sold at the August 2009 bout to the American Heart Association in his memory, resulting in a $539 donation.

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

In October 2009, Bailey’s sports bar hosted a fundraiser for St.Jude’s Children’s Hospital and a number of Quadsquad skater showed up on wheels to support the cause.  St. Jude’s provides both patient care and research to treat children who have cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands

During Domestic Violence Awareness month in October 2009, we coordinated with Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM).  STSM’s “favorite rollergirl” contest with matching funds from CQS, $1086 was raised to combat domestic violence.

Tamika and Friends

In January,2010  CQS started the season with a special donation of $1070 to Tamika and Friends.  Tamika is a cervical cancer survivor who has recently started a chapter in South Carolina to raise awareness of the importance of annual screenings.  Cervical Cancer CAN and WILL happen to anyone!  Be prepared!

Relay for Life

After joining the Columbia Cancer Killers in the April 17th Relay for Life at the State Fair Grounds, CQS not only donated $700 to the cause, but our awesome fans helped contribute over $400 to the American Cancer Society to see May Q. Panic and Brassknuckle Brandy receive a pie to the face.  The Columbia Cancer Killers raised over $10000!

 First Steps

During the August 2010 School of Hard Blocks, over $750 was raised with the help of the Richland County Fire Department to install smoke detectors in the homes of students of the inspiring First Steps program. 

Share our Suzy

In October of 2010 at the Battle of the Bra, the CQS girls held a silent auction of bras designed by the skaters.  Our fans helped contribute of $800 to a heartworming charity specialing in the comfort and support of women battling Breast Cancer

Wounded Warriors

CQS wants YOU!  In honor of those who have served our country, the November 2010 bout helped contribute almost $600 to the men and women wounded in combat during service for these great United States.  We tip our helmets to those and camo and say a special “Thank You!”

Rolling Readers

CQS donated a portion of bout proceeds in January 2011 to Rolling Readers of SC. Rolling Readers is a children’s literacy organization to help support literacy and school-preparedness for children of all ages. Rolling Readers became the children’s division of the Greater Columbia Literacy Council in order to impact illiteracy on every age level.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation

CQS supported St. Baldrick’s by donating a portion of bout proceeds from their “Luck of the Brawl” bout in March 2011 and by setting out donation cans at the bout. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds childhood cancer research grants and is most noteable for its head-shaving events held worldwide.  At these events, volunteers have the opportunity to shave their heads to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer while raising money for the Foundation at the same time.
