Columbia Quadsquad Breaks Honky Tonk Hearts, Extends Streak

The Columbia Quadsquad roller derby team extended its amazing two-year winning streak on Saturday night at Jamil Temple with a 207-97 beatdown of the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers of Austin, Texas. The victory rates as one the Quadsquad’s finest, in that the Heartbreakers are members of the Texas Rollergirls league, which is currently ranked No. 2 among the WFTDA South Central region’s 27 leagues.

In 2009, Eva Foussat watched her first Columbia QuadSquad roller derby bout.

By half time, the Columbia web designer was hooked and had to join up.

“I said to myself, ‘I have to do this,” said Foussat. “I didn’t know how to skate. I’d never played a sport. I wasn’t athletic, but I had to do it.”
